RUNWAY REVIEW: GAUNTLETT CHENG SS25

Welcome back to the runway Gauntlett Cheng!

With my first introduction to the brand being their Spring/Summer 2018 collection during my first time at NYFW (evidence shown below),

I still recollect the vibe and ambiance of that show: intimate and held in what I’d vocalize as a gritty studio apartment, it prompted an allude to the early Chanel showcases Coco held in her Rue Cambon apartment , especially with the hints of pearls and head coverings spotted on the runway (further supporting evidence featuring my favorite models shown below).

It goes without saying that it is a personal pleasure to see the brand remerging after a brief runway siesta for their 10 year anniversary. I won't lie, considering I couldn't find any concrete evidence aside from an intuitive nudge, I had no idea they'd be back showing this season. So once the notification for their Instagram Live popped up I tuned in as 1 of 15 and decided to document my stream of consciousness while watching the show:

I was in genuine fear with the first two looks.

With so much changing in the world and the fashion industry specifically, I was nervous and most ignorantly assumed they went the safe and boring route in order to #secure sales. Alas, the G.C aura I have come to know and love abruptly revealed itself through their display of mesh + sequins in their NYC-chic-date-night-out-after-work-on-a-Friday vibe they bring to the scene.

Good to see the (re)emergence of their unique asymmetrical silhouettes and textured fabric manipulation. One of these days I'll get my hands on one of their shirred pieces they do so well and live on to tell the tale but that is completely besides the point.

I enjoyed the soundtrack.

Definitely eclectic for lack of a better word... I believe it spoke to the variety of persons who enjoy Gauntlett Cheng and the duo's creations. I know that the bald dark-skinned model must've liked the song played during her walk because she

All in all, I loved how the collection was very versatile for daily use and in a perfect world about 80% of the collection would be on their way to having such a good time getting acclimated into my closet especially with the earth-toned palette.
